Learn how this heart-breaking disappearance exploded.
Jay Slater is a 19-year-old apprentice
bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. Described as the "life and soul" by his mother, Debbie Duncan, Jay is
known for his vibrant personality and being well-loved by those around him.
He embarked on a holiday to
Tenerife, where he attended a three-day rave before disappearing under mysterious circumstances.
Jay's
disappearance has prompted a significant search effort involving local authorities and volunteers. His last known
movements include leaving an Airbnb for a long trek through rugged terrain, and there have been unconfirmed
sightings that have added to the complexity of the search. Jay's family and friends are deeply distressed, and the
case has attracted widespread media attention, complicating the investigation with rampant speculation and
unfounded theories.
Tenerife, the largest of Spain's Canary
Islands, is known for its diverse landscapes, including beautiful beaches, volcanic terrain, and lush forests. In
June, Tenerife experiences warm and pleasant weather with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to
77°F). The island enjoys plenty of sunshine, making it an ideal destination for outdoor activities and
beachgoers.
This year, Tenerife hosted the New Rave Generation Festival, attracting visitors with its
vibrant electronic music scene and energetic atmosphere. Jay and his 2 friends travelled from the UK to Tenerife
to attend the Festival together.
Lucy Law is one of Jay Slater's close
friends and was with him when they traveled to Tenerife for the NRG music festival. She attended a rave with Jay
on June 16, 2024, at Papagayo nightclub.
Lucy was the last person to speak to Jay before he went missing on June 17. Jay called her early that morning,
saying he was lost, his phone was dying, and he needed water.
Lucy has been deeply involved in the search for Jay, speaking to the two men he was last seen with and
finding out he left their place to buy cigarettes before trying to get back to his hotel.
Worried that Jay might have been kidnapped, Lucy has set up a GoFundMe page to support his family, which quickly
raised over £30,000. Her efforts highlight her commitment to finding Jay and helping his family.
There have been many rumours and conspiricies surrounding Lucy's involvement in Jay's
dissapearance. Some have even accused her of being involved in his kidnapping.
